Google Launches Advanced Protection Mode for Android 16 to Shield Vulnerable Users
Google has unveiled a new Advanced Protection mode for Android 16, offering enhanced security features designed to protect high-risk users such as activists, journalists, and public figures from sophisticated cyber threats and targeted attacks.
The new security measure extends Google's comprehensive multi-factor authentication system, which previously focused on Google account security, to provide comprehensive device-level protection. "There are two classes of things that we use to defend the user. One is you obviously harden the system… but two is you can't always prevent every attack entirely," explains Dave Kleidermacher, vice president of engineering at Android's security and privacy division.
